Description

Description

Our Quick Drying Agricultural Enamel is a high-performance, high-gloss coating specifically formulated for the needs of the agricultural sector. Based on an advanced quick-drying enamel resin, this paint is designed to provide exceptional coverage and durability on metal surfaces. Ideal for spray application, this enamel ensures a smooth, even finish that enhances the appearance and extends the lifespan of farming equipment and structures.

While optimised for spray application to cover large surface areas quickly and efficiently, our Quick Drying Agricultural Enamel can also be applied using a brush or roller for smaller sections. This versatility makes it an essential product for farmers, machinery maintenance crews, and anyone responsible for keeping agricultural equipment in great condition.

We aslo offer a semi gloss primer finish. Our semi-gloss finish contains anti-corrosive pigments and can be used as a one coat direct to metal DTM primer finish, to mild steel substrates.

This products multiple agricultural applications for example:

  • Structural Steel
  • Barns
  • Buildings
  • Attachments
  • Tractors
  • Trailers
  • Fencing
  • Equipment

Application

Application

Painting over existing paint

Step 1

Before starting, ensure you have the correct PPE and RPE, to protect against atomised particles that are being generated when spraying.

Check suitability of the product to the existing paint. We recommend you try a sample area first as quick drying paints cannot be applied over white spirit based paints as it will attack.

Ensure you have good ventilation to allow vapour to escape; ventilation is also necessary to maintain drying times. Without air movement, the coating will not dry properly.

Step 2 Clean and Abrade -

  • Make sure the existing paint is in good condition prior to painting, then lightly abrade to provide a key for good intercoat adhesion.
  • If there is flaking paint this must be removed prior to painting.
  • Ensure the substrate is dry and clean of any dirt, oil, or grease.

Step 3 Prime – For any bare metal showing or any parts that have rusted you will need to sand the rust back to the bare metal and spot prime with our Quick Drying Primer.

Step 4 Topcoat- Once you have completed the following steps you can apply your top coat. overcoat after 1 hour and within 4 hours. If you go over 4 hours it will need to be left 12 hours after as the coating can attack itself.

Two coats of topcoat are recommended for optimal coverage. Be sure to stir the paint well before use.

Painting bare substrate

Step 1 - Before starting, ensure you have the correct PPE and RPE, to protect against atomised particles that are being generated when spraying.

Ensure you have good ventilation to allow vapour to escape; ventilation is also necessary to maintain drying times. Without air movement, the coating will not dry properly.

Step 2 Clean and Abrade - Ensure the substrate is dry and clean of any dirt, oil, or grease, by using a degreaser.

Step 3 Prime – As this top coat does not have any anti corrosive properties, we recommend you apply one coat of our Quick Drying Primer.

Primers

Primers

Mild Steel: If you are painting mild steel, you will need our Quick Drying Metal primer.

Fibreglass: If the fibreglass is bare, you will need a fibreglass primer. Use our single-pack fibreglass primer.

Galvanised Steel: After treating the galvanised steel with Mordant Solution (T-Wash), you will need our Quick Drying Metal Primer.

Etch Primer: Use one pack etch primer.

Aluminium: The suitable primer for aluminium is two-pack etch primer.

Plastic/UPVC: Use UPVC Primer or a two-in-one primer and topcoat.

Mixing

Mixing

Always stir any paint well before use, as our coatings are heavily pigmented and separation can easily occur. You may experience colour float; for example, a green paint can appear blue before mixing. This is one of the reasons why mixing your paint before use is essential.

  • Use a mixer on a slow-running drill or a palette knife on smaller cans to mix the paint. An egg whisk, screwdriver, or small stick that doesn’t reach the bottom of the can is insufficient for proper mixing.
  • Mixing should take place for 3-5 minutes.
  • If you are adding thinners; they will need to be added once stirred.
Spraying

Spraying

If applying with a pot gun:

Use a 1:2 to 1:4 tip setup and thin by 10% if required. More thinners may be added to achieve good atomisation and improve the flow of the paint, resulting in a better finish.

Air-assisted or Airless system:

Use an 11-13 thou tip (no thinners are usually required). If thinning is necessary, use around 10%. Set air and paint pressures until good atomisation is achieved and fingering (lines in the spray) have blended in.
