Why Choose Our Grey Epoxy Floor Paint?
- NEW 3 IN 1 TECHNOLOGY: Primes, seals, and protects with just two coats, eliminating the need for a separate primer or sealer.
- Exceptional Durability: Our grey epoxy floor paint provides a tough, long-lasting coating designed to withstand heavy foot traffic and machinery. It's perfect for environments where durability is essential.
- HARD WEARING: Stands up to heavy use in areas such as home and industrial garages, factories, and warehouses where vehicles are regularly used.
- Superior Chemical Resistance: Ideal for areas exposed to oils, solvents, and harsh chemicals, this epoxy coating creates a protective barrier that prevents staining and surface damage.
- TOUGH EPOXY FORMULA: Unlike single-pack floor paints, this paint will not lift or wear away under heavy traffic.
Important Notes:
- Color Stability: Please note that while epoxy coatings offer excellent chemical resistance and protection from the elements, the colors may chalk and fade in external applications. For optimal results, consider using this product in indoor settings or covered areas.
- Application Temperature: Remember not to apply Two Pack Epoxy Paint in temperatures below 10 degrees centigrade. If applied in lower temperatures, the cross-linking of the paint and catalyst will not take place, resulting in a coating that may never fully dry.
Key Features:
- High-Gloss Finish: Achieve a mirror-like gloss finish that enhances the appearance of any space while offering easy cleaning and maintenance.
- EASY TO USE: The mixing ratio is 4 parts paint to 1 part hardener. Mix well before application using solvent-resistant brushes or rollers for the best results.
- POT LIFE FOR TWO PACK EPOXY PAINT: Once the components are mixed, the pot life is approximately 4 hours.
- Thinners: If required, use T0200 Epoxy thinner for thinning the paint.
How to Apply Grey Epoxy Floor Paint:
- Preparation: Ensure the floor is clean, dry, and free from dust, dirt, oil, and other contaminants. Proper preparation is essential for achieving the best results.
-
Mixing: Mix the epoxy resin and hardener in a 4:1 ratio. Stir thoroughly for 3-5 minutes using a broomstick, a mixer on a slow-running drill, or a pallet knife. Avoid using an egg whisk, screwdriver, or small stick that doesn’t reach the bottom of the can, as these are not sufficient.
- Allow the mixture to stand for a minute and mix again. Ensure the catalyst is added to the tub before pouring into a paint tray.
- As our coatings are heavily pigmented, separation can occur, leading to color float. For instance, grey paint can appear bluish before mixing, making thorough mixing essential.
- Application: Apply the first coat thinned by 20% with epoxy thinners for bare concrete to ensure the sealer impregnates the surface.
- Second Coat: After 12-24 hours, apply a second coat for full protection and a durable finish.
- Curing Time: Ensure good ventilation during application to speed up drying. Light foot traffic can resume within 24 hours, while heavy usage should wait for 7 days.
Painting Your Floor Step by Step
- Clean and Prepare: The floor area must be dry and clean from dirt, dust, oil, grease, and any other contaminants. Never pre-seal the floor prior to painting, especially with latex or PVC sealers, as the paint will not stick.
- Safety First: Before you start, have your PPE ready, as our paint is oil-based and will not wash off easily with soap and water.
- Mixing the Paint: Stir the paint and catalyst together well before use (4:1 mixing ratio) with a paddle on a slow-running drill or substantial stick.
- Thinning for Bare Concrete: For bare concrete, thin the first coat by 20% with epoxy thinners to ensure the sealer impregnates the concrete.
- Ventilation: Before applying paint, ensure you have good ventilation to allow vapors to escape. Ventilation is also necessary to maintain proper drying times; if there is no air movement, the coating cannot dry effectively.
- Cut In Edges: Cut in around the edges first with a 2 to 3-inch brush, then work backward towards your exit to avoid getting boxed in.
- Large Areas: When painting large areas, it's easier to pour the paint on the floor in stages, spread it out using a squeegee, then back roll with a roller to release any trapped air. This helps avoid a bubbly finish.
- Apply Second Coat: Apply a second coat 12-24 hours (overnight dry) after the first coat to build good color and protection. Two coats are always recommended for achieving the best and longest-lasting finish.
